BSA International Rally Third Newsletter

International Rally

3rd November – 9th November 2023

Newsletter Issue 3

We are having a full week of activities for the international rally next year.

Activities

We will be visiting Prospect Hill Museum, the Macclesfield Motorcycle display, Milang Yacht Club, Strathalbyn (by train), Mannum and Birdwood Museum. There will be 4 dinners at the Resort, 4 lunches. Train fare to Strathalbyn (hopefully a steam train, depending on the weather) our bikes will be behind a wire mesh fence while we are away in Strathalbyn) and museum entry fees. Each day there will be rides of various lengths for all size bikes.

Estimated Costs

The rally is over the week and will cost in the region of $500 with 6 breakfasts or $420 without the six breakfasts all subject to CPI and inflationary pressures. Included in the entry will be 4 dinners at the resort, 4 lunches on the rides, entry to museums and a fairly comprehensive rally pack. Also after the train ride the Steamranger volunteers will be glad to show some of their restoration projects to those interested.

Accommodation Update

Bookings are going well at the Hahndorf Resort and there is still some accommodation available with plenty of caravan sites and camping space.

If the Hahndorf Resort is fully booked, there is the Hahndorf Old Mill Motel just 1100 metres from the main entrance to the resort where there is some 22 rooms that will be able to be booked and after talking with the resort they are happy for people to leave bikes on the site so that they are safe and left with other participants.

Hahndorf Resort can be contacted by email hahndorf@discoveryparks.com.au

or (+61) 1300 763 836

Loan Bikes

We are looking for loan bikes of any size for overseas visitors as was the case in 2018 in the Grampians, where the Victorians put on a really good rally, and very generous in loaning bikes out. Some overseas visitors have already been able to get loan bikes, but more will be needed.

We have been assured by Shannons Insurance, (the 3rd party property insurance provider that most classic owners have in Australia), that providing visitors have the correct licence and comply with local regulations, the bike will be covered whilst be ridden by an international rider. It has been requested that overseas riders lending bikes should possess an ‘International Drivers Licence’. It must also be noted that generally, bikes cannot be hired out, unless they are specifically insured as being for hire or reward.

If you are hoping to lend a bike, go to our Facebook page ‘BSAOCSA International Rally 2023 Bike Loan Group’ by clicking here. Introduce yourself, tell us a bit about yourself, and give us the details of the bike you ride at home, and we will endeavor to match you up with a bike here in Australia. Please note, we will do our best but, obviously this is dependent on the generosity of our members here. These may or may not be BSAs.

More details will be provided on the Facebook page BSA Owners Club of South Australia Inc - International Rally 2023

Or the International Rally Website bsa internationalrally 2023

Less than a year to go now, it will be upon us before we know it.

Best wishes to all.
